History

The 1905 Neo-Renaissance mansion of Morton Freeman Plant (son of railroad tycoon Henry B. Plant) was designed by the architects Robert W. Gibson and C. P. H. Gilbert. Cartier SA acquired the mansion from the Plants in 1917, in exchange for $100 in cash and a double-stranded natural pearl necklace valued at the time at $1 million.[1]
